Teen Banquet 2010

Last week I took Chloe, her “friend” Adam and another friend Carlos down to the Teen Banquet in WV. It was a 2 hour drive but we had alot of fun driving to down. Blake was a little on the bored side, but he was along for the ride. Chloe and Adam acting silly…

Beautiful kids and Beautiful view!!

Recieving her corsage…she was so embarrssed!!! I had to get a picture of that!!! Anyway over all they had a really good time..and I did my first match making with Carlos (20) and my friends daughter Chloe (19)…and so far successful!!:):)

Soccer "End of the Season" Picnic

It has been a few days since our “End of the Year” soccer picnic. But I forgot blog it!!! I thought these cakes were beautiful. My friend Gayle made these.:) Blake and his coach!!!

Chloe and her coach!!

This was such an awesome season for the kids. It wasn’t because we started winning for the first time in 3 years(although that certainly helped), but because their new coach was wonderful. In fact, he made it into Chloe and Blake’s L2L speeches. He was such a great christian example to the kids. The Homeschool Hornets were 8-2 this year!! YAY!!!

What’s going on???

This is probably going to be the most boring blog yet…no pictures…!!

I thought I would post what has been going on in the Rogers Household. SOCCER!! I feel we have been eating, breatheing and living soccer!!! We have a new coach this year!!! And to quote Chloe, ” He is awesome.” Last year we won the first game in 3 years….this year The Homeschool Hornets are 3-1-1!!! I am so excited for the kids!!!

Also we have started Lads to Leaders, it seems the kids are doing all of the activities!! Recenetly, the kids have done Know the Books, Good Samaritan, Bible Bowl, Scrapbooking, Mass Media (editorials), Speech, Pearls…I will post another blog just on L2L activites.

And….my mom and I went to Amish Country last weekend, just her and I. We stayed the night and shopped all the next day!! It was soooo much fun. My moms first trip there!! She deserved it! She does so much for everyone else.!!

First Game of the Season….:)

This is my favorite season ..Fall..Autumn. Whatever you choose to call it….it just so happens to coincide with my favorite sport to watch, my kids Soccer games!!! I am in my element as a soccer mom on the sidelines!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!

This is our second year of playing on the Homeschool Hornets, but the kids love it!! Chloe and Blake play on the middle school team 6th-8th graders, they have allowed Blake to play this year with the understanding he may not get as much playing team as the 8th graders. Well, he played almost the whole game last week!!!

And we won!!!!! 6-2….!!!!!YAY HORNETS!!!

Trip to Pittsburgh Zoo

Last Saturday we headed to the zoo with several friends from church!! It was a lot of fun..but very HOT!! We are all a little spoiled with having such a great summer that when it got to the 90’s for one week we all were ready for Fall.

Below is a picture of the shark tunnel…it is new at the zoo this year. It is really neat!! Our new family picture was taken in the same spot.

Below is one of the few pictures I have of Chloe at the zoo. She stayed a bit ahead of us with some of her friends. That is a monkey peaking over the tree at us.

We got to see the lions at an awesome time. But this lion was growling at the crowd. It went for several minutes….very neat.

Below is a place to measure how tall you to an elephant or a giraffe. Or Ben Roethlisberger …of course…only in Pittsburgh..LOL!!

Paul and his little friend Hannah pulling him along….

I think the polar bears were the best thing to see at the zoo!! They kept swimming around and we could watch them!!! They are soo cute…behind glass walls of course!!

Camye on a camel…

Kiddy Kingdom…here Paul comes!!

Camp~we are officially done for the summer!!

We are officially done with camps this year. I am so relieved. Chloe left on July 12th for Secondary week, she returned on July 18th. Chloe, Blake, Camye and I left on July 19th for another week of camp and returned home on July 25th (our anniversary ❤ !!!) ….then the next day Camye and Blake left for Junior week and just returned on August 1st!!! I am so glad they are home! I was a little worried since we had been at another camp the week before and thought they might be too tired.

Camye had a great time at camp and we were both very glad she had a friend from church going with her. Her and Heather got along great and made some great camp memories!! Camye won 3 ribbons but lost them and was just devastated….the whole sobbing …because we couldnt find them and she didnt know what she won them for. I am calling around today to at least find out what she won. Blake did great !!! When I went to take more clothes to him on Wednesday (couldnt get caught up from the week at camp before)…he played Mr. Cool guy..and greeted me cooley…Camye on the other hand had both arms around my neck and both legs around my waist!! It is such a nice feeling to be missed.
Blake had all his awards and his trophy when I arrived and was beaming!! Blake won 1st place Checkers (highly sought after)(big trophy), 1st place-Frisbee Throw, Soccer and Long Jump 2nd place- Cleanest Cabin and 3rd place-kickball and 100 meters. He also recieved a Camp Concern Athelete 2009. We are very proud of him!!
These pics are of the cabins they stayed in all week, Chloe too. Although her pic is on her camera right now, 4 campers stay in the cabin.

I am very glad that Blake had a great friend Nathan to go with him. They had a great week!!

Camp~~~I cant believe its over!!!

For the last 4 years I have been a counsler at the same camp I attended when I was camper for 10 years!! It is soo much fun!

This is Camye and one of my best friends from high school’s daughter!! They really hit it off and were inseperable all week!!

Blake was in an oreo eating concert…who could eat 3 oreos, swallow them and smile for the camera would win!!! And guess what he did!!!

Chloe (in the camper favorite class..CLAY)…she made some great little figures..check out our clay blog coming soon…

Chloe in the mud slide….

Blake in the mud slide…
and of course Camye and I did not do that!!!LOL!!

Our baby girl is 13!!!

On Saturday, July 11th…Chloe turned 13!!! I can hardly believe it has been 13 years. I am so proud of her. I told her she could have a slumber party with all her friends or a fun family day. She chose the fun family day, we started it with pedicures for her, Camye, Gran and myself. Then we all went to dinner at the Olive Garden, followed by presents and her “requested” cookie cake and then to see the movie “Up”!! Which is really cute:)

Chloe has been wanting a sewing machine for sometime. I found this awesome computerized sewing machine and couldnt pass it up. She was surprised!! She left for camp on Sunday and I wanted to piece together a quilt for her this week. Well…my machine went into the shop so I had to try her machine. It is awesome!!! I like it almost as much as I like mine!!! Well maybe not that much…:):) But it works great!!!

I think Chloe is simply beautiful. I am so happy that God blessed us with her. She has given us such joy in her little 13 years of life. I couldnt be prouder of her.

Chloe’s Advanced Speech 1 and 2

Chloe is participating in Advanced Speech for Lads to Leaders. She will be giving 18 speeches(6 different speeches) before January. We actually have each one planned out, mostly for Ladies Bible Class. Her first 2 speeches were done at our Homeschool Art and Talent Night and our Heart and Home 4h club. She did so well. I can already see the public speaker coming out in here. I am so proud of her.
I am so thankful for this program. To recieve the high school diploma in PA from the state, you must give a 5 minute speech each year of high school. After doing Advanced Speech her 8th grade year, NO problem. I think I will have the rest of my kids do this program their 8th grade year as well to prepare for high school.

I liked the pic below..Camye to the left, Blake to the right, Chloe in the middle…:):)
