Monday Musings…

I feel like blogging some anxiety issues out…I am such a planner, organizer and a list maker. I have 3 calenders plus my blackberry that I keep everything planned out on.

I pretty much have my holiday baking, shopping, decorating and wrapping down to a fine art. This year things are different. We are celebrating Christmas with my parents, brothers, grandparents on Thanksgiving and we are leaving for Texas on the 18Th of December and will not return until the 3rd of January. We are going to celebrate Christmas and New Years with Kennys parents, sister and her 4 kiddos and his brother and his wife and little girl…

Soo….my plans are off. Decorating is out..and I have to say I am not THAT disappointed.

This year my grandparents and brother gave me ALL their money to shop for my family from them, because NONE of them shop. Sooooo…I have spent the last week shopping and mostly dropping since I had the worst cold of my lifetime!! But there went alot of my ideas as well.

So here are my plans:
Baking for Thanksgiving must be complete by Monday November 23rd.
Wrapping must be done by Monday November 23rd.
Everyone packed and down to my parents on Monday November 23rd.

Come home on Thanksgiving the 26th, head to the outlet mall at 10pm finish shopping there …head to Toys R Us by midnight to start shopping from “Santa”. My plans are outlet mall, Toys R Us, Walmart, Joann Fabrics, Kohls, and Target. And a lot of Starbucks in between. I would LOVE to finish all that shopping on Black Friday. I think if I stay organized and can function….shop all night and all the next day. I can finish it!!

After Thanksgiving goals:
Christmas Baking done by December 18th and frozen
Christmas Shopping done by December 1st
Wrapped by December 15th.
Van packed.
Texas bound!!

Not too bad….sorry if I totally bored you!!! I feel better now that I have blogged out my frustrations.

Medieval Times: Castles

WOW!! These kids blew my mind today!!!! This Is really all I can say about my 6th-8th grade and 4th-5th grade Medieval Times class. These kids are soooo excited about learning and creating. They are all just great kids!!Our assignment this week was to build a castle to the best of your ability. We had every kind of imaginable castles from gingerbread to cardboard. They were FABULOUS!!!!

This was a Jacob and Nathan Bairen’s gingerbread castle. This was great. I will uploading a video later (when I get to a computer with high speed) to show you how 40 homeschool kids can attack a castle and WIN!!!! LOL!!!!
Below is Chloe and Blake’s castle, Blake spent his birthday money to purchase a lego Medival Times set. BUT when Chloe was cleaning last week she threw it away, after much prodding to use your imagination. They created this. I am really proud of them. Only one castaphore that happened on the way to co~op this morning, we were running a bit late. Camye ran into the van and ran right into the castle knocked half of it outside the van in the gravel….!!! We were able to recover!!!

Besides Blakes castle, is Alayna Stahlman’s castle. And believe this or not….it was a cake. Alayna and her mother made this and it was awesome!!

I added Tessa’s cute castle in here!! Because it was very creative and I know her mom is an avid stalker of my blogs!!!!:):):)

Here is Chloe with our castle..I have no idea why it is smaller:??????

~Trip Around the World~

Here is a quilt I just finished today, it is called “Trip Around the World”. I used the Eleanor Burns Quilt in a day pattern for it. Of course, my quilt was not finished in a day…more like 2 weeks. I have made a Trip Around the World baby quilt in a day but this is a full size quilt for my guest room/sewing room/computer room. I wanted something bright and bold. I do feel slightly selfish making something for me with holidays quickly approaching, but I couldnt wait!!

Now the hard part..borders. I hadnt really even given it a second thought when I started because I knew what I wanted the bold colors to be.

I am going to the Amish Quilt Shop Hop in Holmes County on Thursday…hopefully I will get some little Amish lady to point the perfect fabrics for my borders.

Halloween 2009!!!

What fun!!! The kids had a blast trick or treating Saturday night! Chloe was a soccer player, Blake was a pirate, Camye was a black kitty and Paul was a rooster!!!

We made a HUGE haul in the candy area!!. Bleh..I am already sick of it hanging around the house. Anyway…Here is a belated Happy Halloween!!

Soccer "End of the Season" Picnic

It has been a few days since our “End of the Year” soccer picnic. But I forgot blog it!!! I thought these cakes were beautiful. My friend Gayle made these.:) Blake and his coach!!!

Chloe and her coach!!

This was such an awesome season for the kids. It wasn’t because we started winning for the first time in 3 years(although that certainly helped), but because their new coach was wonderful. In fact, he made it into Chloe and Blake’s L2L speeches. He was such a great christian example to the kids. The Homeschool Hornets were 8-2 this year!! YAY!!!

Sewing along….

Today is day 5 of being in the house SICK, so far I have sewn 3 purses, started a quilt purse (picture to come..not finished yet), planned another quilt, planned all my christmas shopping, listed things on ebay for extra Christmas spending money, read 4 books, helped the girls crochet scarves for Christmas gifts, taught Camye to applique (interesting since I dont even know how myself..LOL), reorganized my sewing room, watched 10 seasons of Little House and the Prairie and mastered Super Mario Brothers for 200th time.

Anyway…here are 3 bags I just finished. I thought they were pretty cute. The pink and black is actually a ballet bag ( cute pink ballet slipper fabric )for Camye, the americana purse is for my mom for Christmas, and the teal and green one..I think I will carry!!! My mom doesnt get on my blog unless I walk her through it so she is banned until after Thanksgiving (when we are celebrating Christmas with my family) from my blog. I also am going to make her an americana table runner.
