Simple enough….anyone else have a menu? I would love to see others.

FireProof

Kenny and I highly recommend the new movie Fireproof. We had already been doing the “40 Day Love Dare”, we have enjoyed that so much that we purchased the movie. We cried from beginning to end, I dont mean just teared up either. We ugly-faced cried and shoulders trembled. It was a  fabulous movie. There should be more films out there with such great morals.

Thankful Thursday!!

Thankful Thursday….
1. I am thankful for Thankful Thursday because I needed a breather right now. My house is trashed. Our new furniture was delivered last night..the house is upside down. My office is a mess. I have to write a history test for tomorrow morning. My dryer isnt working and the laundry is up to my ears. I need to fix something for supper and cant think of a thing. I made a list with about 20 things on it and I lost it.
2. I am thankful for my WONDERFUL husband. He is just too wonderful. He fixes everything for me. And my dryer quit and I know that when he gets home…he will have it working. He can do anything. He is the only superhero this girl will ever need!!!
3. I am thankful for my children whom I missed dearly while I was in the Bahamas.
4. I am thankful for my new furniture which turned my house upside down for awhile will be what we needed for more seating in the family room.
5. I am thankful for the cruise my hubby and I just took. It was just what we needed. I have to say when we came home and he went to work. I really missed being with him every hour of every day.
6. I am thankful for WARMER weather. Winter can be fun. But we are always ready for Spring and Summer.
7. I am thankful for living in the United States. The bahamas was a nice visit….and ocean was beautiful!! But I am proud to live in the US!!
8. I am thankful for homeschooling. I truelly love it!!
9. I am thankful for my friends. Just really know when to help out.:)
10. I am thankful for new niece Amelia Grace Desiderio, who I have not gotten to meet yet but looks very precious.
Thats all..now I have to go find my list and get busy. But I actually feel better now.:)

Our Cruise!!!

This was such an awesome trip !!! We had such a great time together!!! We plan on doing this again and again…..

.
We went accursion…called the Clear Kayak Adventure. We Kayaked in glass bottemed boats..then we came for a snorkel…which didnt work out so well for me. I was a nervous wreck and only lasted about 10 seconds in the water.

Treating sickness ..a little differently.

When I was at the hospital with Paul and was answering questions for the nurse. One of the questions was is he allergic to any medicine? I said, “I dont know he has never been on any.” She stopped and looked up at me and said, “I mean like penicillian or anything.” I said, “I really dont know because he has never had any medications other than Tylenol and Benadryl.” She said, “you are kidding you should write a book.”

Well I assure I should not write a book because anything I have ever done is only because someone ELSE has told me about it.
First of all, 4 years ago we were sick all the time on antibiotics at least once every other month. We werent getting better. We were basically causing it to go away with the meds but not geting to the root of the problem, which was only causing it to come back.  Well I started asking around…almost all my friends who were mothers and had several kids (so they had been around awhile longer than I) told me they never took the kids to the doctor for earaches, they took them to the chiropracter!!! WHAT?? Okay…why didnt anyone tell me this 8 years ago??
The chiropractor told me that an ear ache isnt an infection it is caused when the ears cant drain properly. Things are swollen or out of alignment. If you let it go to long then it can become an infection.

So now here is what we do…

1. As soon as one of the kids gets any sort of mucous going…whether that be nose, throat or ear..we immedialty stop all dairy. Dairy is very mucous forming.
2. We make an appointment with the chiropractor. Look for a good one, look for one that treats whole body. If you call and make an appt and they dont know what “whole body” means.. Go somewhere else.
3. This morning Camye has an earache..my fault she was getting sick last Thursday and I should have taken her into the chiro and didnt. She even said to me at 4am this morning I told you I need to see Dr Clemente (our chiro). Anyway..she is in total pain this morning. So I put some TEI-FU (health food store)(essentail oils). These oils help open up the passageway, so things can get moving in the ear.
4. The chiro showed me a spot to rub about 4 inches below the ear lobe..that is where the drainage cant get thru. I rubbed some icy hot on that. And amazingly enough, there is ALWAYS a huge pressure point there.
5. Tylenol if they are in major pain.
She is sleeping peacefully now.
Within 3 days they are fine again. This is just my expereience and experience of others I learned it from.

Paul’s Surgery~~~!!!

Paul did sooo wonderful!!!:):):) He was so cute and so brave! We are so proud of him. They ended up having to pull a tooth, so the tooth fairy will be visiting tonight!! That was what we had hoped to avoid, but the surgeon said she was not able to save it.
Starting the day with a smile…

His only reaction to this gown was, I am a boy and dont wear dresses. What will Blake say?
Daddy was the one that went back to be with him while they put him under. I just couldnt do it. And only one parent was allowed to go. Our preacher was there and I was so thankful for the distraction.
6 cavities filled, 1 tooth pulled and 1 red popsicle later..still smiling.:)
Came Home and crashed with the puppies!!

He is on a soft food diet for 4 days and after that still no hard candy, gum, gummies or anything real chewy.
To fill you in on what was going on with him, Last January we took Paul to the dentist and he said to watch him he had some decay on several molars. We watched as they slowly got worse, after several opinions, walking out of some offices in which he was handed Twizzlers…I had had enough and took him to Pittsburgh Childrens Hospital and said HELP!! They have been so wonderful and have now corrected the problem.

Prayer Request~!!

Hey all! I have a prayer request. Paul is having dental surgery in the morning, he is being put completely under. I am little nervous about the anesthetic.

I am certain that all will go smoothly, but prayer will help it go even smoother. His surgery is at 9:45 and is supposed to last 1 hour.
Thank you:)

Chore Chart

Our Chore Chart

A Chore Chart. That’s what we call it. Kenny made this for me because I am just not able to keep with what kids are doing or not doing. We wanted to give the kids allowance, but seriously between homeschooling, church and all our too numerous to mention activities (soccer, dance, Lads to Leaders, 4H, life groups, co-op…and on and on…) Kenny said it would be different if we just participated in these activites but no I have to volunteer to teach, organize or be in charge about every activity in our life. He thinks this comes from my mother who never stops and is constantly in motion.

So, he created this for me. AND it works!!!Here is how, each child has a row that is color cooridinated to their fave color. On each tab is what is expected of them each day such as make bed, devotion, clean room, brush and floss (2 tabs for that)ect…also they are each given 3 monthly chores that alternate. I even listed each subject to keep me accountable that we covered that subject that day. They do ask me before they move the tab to the end hook, but at the end of the day the MAJORITY of them should be moved to the end.
Please excuse the pictures. I dropped my camera and now everything is a little unfocused and every pic has red eye (that I have to fix manually). The new camera is on its way…and the word Strong is the name of it!!LOL!!!

A day in the 1800’s with Lewis and Clark…

Yesterday the girls participated in a wonderful program called Windows thru History. This is something that is offered once a month and different time periods are studied each month. Obviously this month was Lewis and Clark. It was at the Vicary Mansion in Freedom, PA. They had alot of fun.:) As soon as they got there, they were taken to the 3rd floor to pick out there dress for the day. That was really neat to see all their dresses. Chloe had hoped for a white dress, trimmed in gold with puffed sleeves like Anne of Green Gables and that is what she got. Camye was too much of a hurry to get a dress on and get down to her friends.

The girls studied quilling which is fancy ribbon work, reticules which they sewed a small hand bag, and cooking. The cooking was a bit disastrous, but Blake and I dropped the girls off at the mansion and him and I had a Valentines Day date. We were gone 20 minutes, about to walk into Target, and we recieved a call that we needed to come back because Camye was sick. So we headed back, Blake was so upset…but we had no choice. They had told me that she had been cooking and laid down on the floor because she got queesy and hot and that she was laying on bench with one of the ladies. But when I get back there, the lady looks at me and says your daugther is fine! So I went and pulled her out of quilling to find out what was going on? She said they made her touch ickky pork, it was slimy and gross and she couldnt take it. So I left her in class and back to my date with Blake.!!!
The girls all learned a 1800 dance where they danced around “prissily” holding their gowns and giggling like crazy! These are 2 of Camyes friends that attend the same homeschool co-op, Morgan and Ellie.
There lunch consisted of  Salted Pork, Carrot Pudding, Gravy, Bread and Apple Tarts. Camye did not eat the Salted Pork. 😉
