Day 10 Gluten free

Okay… I am still not that great with this diet.

Breakfast
GF Granola
Milk

Snack
Smarties
Capri sun
Fruit snacks

Lunch
We went to Red Robin..eek.
Grilled chicken on a stick
Ranch
Mandarin oranges
Fries( which were warned to be possibly contaminated with wheat) but how do you eat at Red robin and not eat fries?? Must improve…

Total grump… Temper fits…

Supper
GF bread with peanut butter and jelly
GF cheese crackers

Muscle cramps in her arms before bed. Woke up twice…
Not fussy but got in our bed.

Sooooooo that’s my 10 day diary. I think I should still write it all down… As I do see a total connection… An immediate connection every time she has any wheat.
I would love to hear any of my GF friends thoughts on this… Especially Tonya’s.:) my faithful
Blog reader.

10 day Gluten free evaluation

Okay my final day to blog Mia’s gluten free diet. I feel like i haven’t been as consistence as I should have been. Thanskgiving, eating out and traveling are HARD to do.. Especially when I was first starting to even learn this diet.

I do feel this has been a success. We have seen a lot of symptoms improve if not go away completely.

Here are a list of improvements:
– looser bowels
– less irritable
– less mood swings
– less muscle cramps
– less complaints of random pain
– sleeping better
– eating more
– more alert

Things that seem to come back if given any wheat… Even just from contamination.
– muscle cramps
– irritability/tantrums
– random pains
– Zero appetite

We see hematology to check on her sudden ‘blood clotting’ disorder. Which I still think is either a mistake or caused by the gluten.
Tomorrow we see her IAP and she knows I am asking for food allergy testing. I am sure she will order at least blood work if not refer us to an allergist. Still not sure why food allergy had to be my idea… I would think with it being so common they would think to test for this more often.

2 slices of GF pepperoni pizza

Supper
A bowl of granola cereal with milk
Ranch Doritos (yes gluten free… Just not healthy) we were traveling. Give me a break.. 😉

Black Friday Fun

Lots of people like to slam Black Friday…. But I finish most of my shopping and spend time with some great friends for a 24 hour shopping trip.

We walked into Walmart 10 minutes before the sale and walked out with everything we wanted within 30 minutes. Only one person in front of us in line. No problem!

This is what it looked like when they opened the box of $1.48 towels.. Woohoo!! Lots of new towels and washcloths.

Now since the majority of our shopping is out of the way. Onto more important things like spending time with my family, homemade gifts and holiday baking!

Daddy time!

Daddy loves taking kids to the store with him. This is always so odd to me because I can not wait to go by myself. He likes to keep me updates of all the fun they are having 🙂

At the grocery store.:)

Stopped at Cabelas and yes Avah was in her pajamas. Oops

Pretty girls!

Day 5 Gluten Free

Slept great. No cramps.

Yesterday. I forgot Mia did have some organic peanut butter cups(accidentally)… That said may contain wheat. She only ate about 6-7.

We did have one little fit this morning. But it was over quick and she told me she felt funny?

Breakfast
GF cereal with strawberries

Snack
M&M’s

Lunch
Rice noodles with corn and peas

Snack
Yogurt
Mandarin Oranges

Supper
Rice Penne Pasta
Black Olives
Cherry tomatoes
Grilled Chicken
Olive oil

Snack
Clementine

Going great! My mom and I are preparing thanksgiving dinner tomorrow so I know exactly what ingredients will be in the food.

I called Mia’s pediatrician and asked for some blood work to be done… To test for gluten intolerance. She said to wait and when we go in next Tuesday, she will order a full work up on food allergies. I thought I would print out my food journal for her to read.

Day 3 Gluten Free

Well I am not sure why but it’s 2:30am. Mia woke to 3 different muscle cramps in her right forearm. She has been trying to get back to sleep but keeps getting muscle cramps in her calves. Yesterday was not 100% gluten free… she did have 1/2 choc chip cookie, 3 bites of a white roll, 1 bite of unapproved cereal, and she devoured the crust of her brothers pie. Not sure if these are related but she didnt have any gluten on day 1 and zero cramping at night(which isn’t the norm).

3am- leg cramps

8am- Mia is a hot mess. Woke up with a hang nail… Temper fit after temper fit.

10:15am- still going strong
Still no appetite…

10:30am- gluten free granola bar

11:30am- attitude improving and she ate some grapes.

1pm- Asian noodles(don’t have the photo of the package but will post a photo soon

2pm- napped for 1 1/2 hour … Super sweet Mia is back

4pm- She had another GF granola bar and a banana.

5pm- 2 Slices of gluten free pizza

Tonight she went right to sleep no issues. It was a perfect gluten free today. Praying she has a good night.:)
Me and my hubby went to Trader Joe’s and GE Market district for some goodies

Little girls were super excited.:)

Day 2 Gluten Free

Okay today was a little rough. But since I was warned not to take Mia off gluten 100% all at once because she could have a bad reaction, I don’t feel like we messed that bad for just our second day.

Breakfast
Gluten free rice krispies and bananas
1 bite of Blake’s cereal which was NOT gluten free (oops Chloe and Blake got home late last night from a youth retreat and I didn’t have a chance to tell them)

Lunch
Broccoli Cheddar Rice

Supper
a little ham, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoe, apple sauce, corn

A few slip ups at dinner. Avah was slipping pieces of her roll to Mia under the table. And Mia ate Paul’s crust off his cheesecake.

But pretty good since we were at our church Harvest dinner.

Behavior- again today was a little different with church twice. Daddy was with us all day. Back and forth from home to church. She only threw a fit once when she wanted a bag of rolls and I said no. It was short lived and she got over pretty quick. She
Seemed more alert, outgoing and awake today. I felt like she felt better.
Tomorrow will be the true test. Daddy is back to work.
